VI Peel

Combat ALL signs of aging

What is VI Peel?

VI Peel is a medium depth chemical peel designed to address multiple issues including: hyperpigmentation, acne, scars, fine lines, and skin dullness.

What makes VI Peel special?

VI Peel is a combination, medium depth peel that is safe for all skin types. There is minimal discomfort and minimal downtime associated with application. It can address multiple common skin issues and also be used in combination with neurotoxin injections to further boost wrinkle reduction and promote skin elasticity.

Does it hurt?

This peel is tolerated very well by most patients. You may experience slight tingling or burning sensation with initial application of the peel solution, but it is typically minimal. Most would rate the discomfort as a 1-2 out of 10.

Is there any downtime?

Downtime is minimal, but there are some things you need to keep in mind. It is recommended that you do not work out for 72-96 hours or until you have finished the peeling process. You should also avoid prolonged sun exposure for 7 days. You may otherwise do all of your normal daily activities as long as you are wearing sunscreen.

Who should not get a VI Peel?

In general, this peel is very well tolerated and safe for most people, but there are a few exceptions:

         - It is not safe if you are pregnant or breastfeeding

         - If you have an allergy to aspirin, hydroquinone, or phenol it is contraindicated

         - You have to be off of Accutane for at least 6 months

         - You cannot get this treatment if you have active cold sores and open wounds

         - Those with a history of autoimmune or liver disease, have any autoimmune                            disorders, or are on chemotherapy or other medications that may weaken

your immune system may not be good candidate

         - Typically not recommended for patient with eczema

How long before I see results?

You will begin to see results significant rejuvenation in 5-7 days after a single peel. You will notice improvement in texture, pigment and dullness. Your skin products will penetrate deeper and be more effective. For certain issues like acne scarring or deeper lines you may need a series of 3-6 treatments to see optimal results

What does the peeling process look like?

The VI Peel process typically takes 7 days for most people. On day one you have the peel applied in the office. 4 hours after application you will wash your face and can begin applying makeup at that point if you wish. Although everyone's experience can be a little different, peeling usually starts on day 3 and lasts a few days. By day 7, most people have completed the peeling process and are completely back to their usual routine.

Who performs my procedure?

I myself, Dr. Megan Bertke, perform all procedures, consultations, and follow up appointments.

What should I expect at my appointment?

I always get a brief medical history to ensure there are no contraindications to treatment. I will answer any questions you have and take photos before the procedure for documentation and comparison purposes that will be kept confidential unless you give your expressed consent to use them for any promotional purposes. Once initial photos are taken, I will set up for and apply the peel. This usually takes about 10-15 minutes. After your treatment I retake photos and go over post-treatment recommendations. The entire visit usually takes 30 minutes.
